The Cage Comic Preservation Project is Now Live!

I’m so excited to finally share that The Cage Comic Preservation Project is live and viewable to everyone!
For those who may not know, Cage was a Petz fan comic created by Mark J. Hadley that originally ran from around Spring 1999 to early 2001. It was hosted on Geocities and followed a small cast of lovable characters — a cat named Cage, his partner Neko, their son Fugue, and a rival dog named Ligeti.
Like so many treasures from the early web, the comic quietly disappeared after Geocities shut down. But I never forgot it. After some digging, organizing, and a whole lot of reminiscing — and discovering a preserved version on a Geocities mirror site that served adult banner ads (LOL) — I decided to rescue and preserve what I could, with care, respect, and a lot of love.
The project includes:
- The history of the comic and intent of the preservation
- A full archive of all 64 available comic strips
- A character guide with images and bios
This project is now part of The Petz Warehouse, alongside the final version of the Breed Makers Guild from 1999 — I felt it belonged in the same lovingly dusty corner of the Petz web.
If you remember this comic, I hope this brings back warm memories. If you’re discovering it for the first time, I hope it brings a smile.
