This little corner of the web is dedicated to preserving Cage, a Petz comic strip created by Mark J. Hadley. The comic ran from around Spring 1999 until January 27, 2001, and was originally hosted on GeoCities (Petsburgh/Haven/5337).
Over the course of 68 episodes, Cage told the story of Cage, Neko, Fugue, and Ligeti (learn more about them here). This adorable cast of characters each had unique personalities, quirks, and even their own music. Yes, really! The original site featured original songs composed by the author, each written to represent a specific character. That kind of creativity was something truly special.
What’s Missing
Sadly, the final four comics (#65–#68) have been lost to time. Despite efforts to locate them (including attempts to contact Mark himself), those last panels remain a mystery. If you happen to have them saved, or remember seeing them somewhere, please reach out at [Enable JavaScript to view]! I would love to complete the archive for fans old and new.
In April 2025, I made an attempt to reach out to Mark J. Hadley to ask about preserving his work and to request the missing comics. I haven’t received a reply, so I’ve decided to move forward with this project in good faith, out of love for Cage and a desire to keep it accessible for fans. If Mark ever reaches out in the future, I’ll be more than happy to adjust anything at his request.
Why This Exists
This project exists to give Cage the respectful home it deserves and help it live on for others to discover and enjoy. Whether you’re a nostalgic Petz veteran or stumbling onto this comic for the first time — welcome!
